Quartz and Granite Countertops in Toronto

Toronto kitchens come with their own challenges — century homes with settled floors and staircases too narrow for a full slab, condos with elevator bookings, service entrance limits and insurance certificates. We plan seams and confirm building rules before install day, not on it, drawing on years of Toronto installs out of our Mississauga shop.

Locally Fabricated

Quartz Countertops for Toronto Kitchens

Quartz is the default for most Toronto projects, and small kitchens are the reason. When you only have twelve linear feet of counter, every square inch counts, and a non-porous surface that never needs sealing is simply the more practical choice.

It also solves the light problem. Kitchens in older Toronto homes are often at the back of the house with one window and a neighbour’s wall three metres away. A pale quartz with light movement bounces whatever light is in the room. A dark natural stone in the same space can make it feel like a basement.

We stock Caesarstone, Silestone, Vicostone, K-Stone and MSI Q Colors, in a range that runs from flat white through heavy marble veining. For condo kitchens, we regularly fabricate 2cm material with a built-up mitred edge, which reads as a thick slab without the weight, and weight is a real consideration when the material has to come up in an elevator.

Engineered Stone

Granite Countertops for Toronto Homes

Granite belongs in Toronto’s older detached homes, particularly through Leaside, High Park, the Beaches and North Toronto where the houses have original character worth matching. A natural stone with real depth sits properly next to hardwood, wainscoting and original trim.

It is also the better choice if you cook with heat constantly. Granite takes a hot pan without the thermal shock risk that engineered surfaces carry, which is why it stays popular with people who actually use their stove hard.

The trade-off is sealing, roughly once a year, and about ten minutes of your time when you do it. We demonstrate the process on installation day.

Bathroom Vanities and Small-Format Work

Toronto bathrooms are small, and that is an advantage. A vanity top can often be cut from remnant material, and small pieces are easier to carry up a narrow staircase than a kitchen slab.

We also cut bar tops, built-in desk surfaces, radiator covers, fireplace hearths and windowsills. In a small home where the kitchen and living space run together, carrying one material through the room makes it read as larger than it is.

FROM FIRST CALL TO FINAL SEAM

How a Toronto Countertop Project Works

STEP 01

FREE CONSULTATION

Send measurements or drawings. For condos, tell us the building and the floor at this stage, because access affects both the quote and the schedule.

STEP 02

Slab selection

Come to our showroom at 4890 Tomken Rd in Mississauga and view full slabs indoors. It is a straightforward drive from most of the west end and worth the trip for a decision this permanent.

STEP 03

Laser templating

We template the real space after cabinets are installed. In Toronto’s older housing, this step does most of the work. Bowed plaster walls and out-of-square corners are normal, and the template lets the finished top sit tight against them instead of leaving a gap you fill with caulk.

STEP 04

Access planning

For anything with a difficult route, we confirm the path before fabrication and place seams where they need to be. Seams are engineered into the design, not improvised at your door.

STEP 05

Fabrication and installation

We do cutting, cutouts, and edge profiling in-house on Italian CNC equipment. Installation is typically a single day, including removal of your old counters. For condo installs, we work within your building’s elevator booking and moving hours.

WHY HOMEOWNERS CHOOSE US

Why Toronto Homeowners Choose DreamStone

We plan for the access, not around it

Stairwells, elevators, laneway parking and narrow doorways get sorted out before fabrication starts.

Seam placement is a design decision

In a small kitchen, a badly placed seam is the thing you will look at every day. We tell you where it will go and why, before we cut.

Everything is fabricated in-house

No subcontracted shop, no schedule you cannot get a straight answer about.

Price match guarantee

On comparable material, and a workmanship warranty on our installation.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Toronto Countertop FAQs

Do you install in downtown condos?

Yes, regularly. We will need your building’s rules for the service elevator, the booking window, and whether a certificate of insurance is required. Tell us the building at the quoting stage, and we will handle the arrangements with property management.

My kitchen is on the second floor, and the stairs are narrow. Can you still do it?

Almost always. We measure the access route as part of templating and design the seams so every piece fits up the stairs. This is common in Toronto’s older homes, and it is a planning issue, not a dealbreaker.

Where will the seam be, and will I see it?

We place seams where they are least visible, usually at a sink cutout or a corner, and we tell you the location before fabrication. In quartz, a well-executed seam is visible if you look for it and invisible from across the room. In heavily patterned granite, it disappears almost entirely.

Do you charge for travel into Toronto?

No. Toronto is a standard service area, and travel is included.

Is my old counter removal included?

Yes, removal and disposal of your existing countertop is part of a standard installation.

Can you match stone to a heritage kitchen without it looking wrong?

Yes, and it is mostly a question of edge profile and finish rather than colour. A honed or leathered surface with a softer edge sits far better in a century home than a high-gloss polish with a modern square edge. Bring photos to the consultation.
